Anne-Marie Parkinson
Project & Finance Manager

Anne-Marie Parkinson graduated from University of California, Santa Barbara in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies with an emphasis in Wildlife, Ecosystems, and Habitat Restoration. After receiving her undergraduate degree, she worked as a researcher in the Carla D’ Antonio lab at UCSB studying post-fire regeneration. She was inspired to attend graduate school to preserve natural resources for future generations after witnessing the large loss of forests first-hand. She will spend her time at Bren better understanding the socio-economic factors that contribute to solving environmental problems related to resource management and sustainability.

Hannah Garcia-Wickstrum
Project  & Outreach Manager

Hannah graduated from UC Davis with a B.S.  in Biological Sciences in 2014. After graduating, Hannah worked for both federal and non-profit organizations throughout California. Working for these  organizations sparked her passion for botany and habitat conservation. Most recently, Hannah worked for the Santa Clara River Conservancy (SCRC) managing the removal of invasive plants and monitoring riparian restoration. Working with SCRC inspired her on what achievements can be made when stakeholders collaborate on important ecological improvements. Inspired by the biodiversity of California ecosystems, Hannah seeks to better understand conservation objectives and policies so that she can aid in the preservation of California’s biodiversity.

Leana Goetze
Data Manager

Leana graduated with a B.S. in Biological Sciences from UC Davis in 2014. Upon graduation, her desire to work with animals led her to the field of primatology, where she was involved in studying primate social behavior for over five years. After working both in laboratory animal research and veterinary medicine, Leana shifted focus and accepted an internship with the Planning and Conservation League in Sacramento, where she worked in policy advocacy and outreach to support legislation that focused on preserving California’s natural environment. Throughout this internship, Leana recognized that there is a great need to protect wildlife against the pressures of human land use. Leana is especially interested in quantitatively measuring the effects of habitat loss, degradation, and fragmentation on wildlife populations with the hopes of using such data to preserve biodiversity.

Jennifer Truong
Data Manager
Jennifer Truong graduated from UCLA in 2015 with a B.S. in Environmental Science. Jennifer’s passion for local Southern California ecosystems originated after attending field trips in the Santa Monica mountains. She continued to pursue that passion after graduation by volunteering at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. Jennifer found her interest in GIS at UCLA. She continued developing her spatial analysis skills through a GIS internship with the Orange County Parks Department and an academic certificate in GIS at UCLA Extension. At Bren, Jennifer specializes in Conservation Planning with an Environmental Data Science focus. She plans to pursue data science and spatial analysis for a government agency after Bren.
